Badgers dominate All-SWAC selections
Though they finished third in the regular season standings, the Snow College Badgers were number one in the minds of the SWAC coaches as they placed a league-high four players on the All-SWAC first team announced this afternoon during the league tournament. Shortstop Cassidy Anderson was selected as SWAC Player of the Year and Kimbri Herring was selected as SWAC Pitcher of the Year. Joining Anderson and Herring on the first team were center fielder Emily Street and third baseman Alyssa Arslanian. SLCC and CSI each placed three on the All-SWAC first team.
Kimbri Herring named SWAC Pitcher of the Week
Snow College freshman Kimbri Herring was named today as the Scenic West Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for her performance against No. 10 ranked College of Southern Idaho on Friday and Saturday. Herring started off the four-game series by no-hitting the Golden Eagles on 11 strikeouts to lead the Badgers to a 4-0 win in the opener. She was almost as good in Saturday’s first game when she again shut out CSI, this time in a classic 1-0 pitcher’s duel, yielding only 3 hits and again striking out 11. The right-hander from Stansbury High School also came on in relief in the second game each day, finishing the weekend with a won-loss record of 2-0, giving up 9 runs on 18 hits in 21 innings of work. She struck out a total of 28 batters to run her league-leading total to 117 strikeouts for the season. Friday’s no-hitter was Herring’s second of the season, previously holding Southern Nevada hitless on March 10.
