Day of Champions and End of the Season Party
Hey ya'll, Jeanne here. I am officially taking over the party planning as Paul is far too focused on kicking butt, errrr, I mean playing baseball this weekend to think about anything else. So, here's the deal.
Day of Champions:
Hopefully you have been reading your emails from the league about the events of the day. Obviously, there is two ways that the day will go. If we are not in the championship game, our skills challenge starts at 1pm, followed by Coach Paul in the dunk tank, and the coaches Homerun Derby at 330. If we are in the championship game, the skills challenge is still at 1pm and your child's participation is up to you. The championship game is at 3:30, show time 2:45. No matter which way the day goes, we will have a Red Sox tent set up with some food and waters. Feel free to bring chairs, music, etc.
After the events of the day, we will head to CiCi's Pizza to celebrate our season. Please join us!
I think that sums it up! Were looking forward to a fun weekend!
Jeanne
Practice tomorrow (May 31) and Game Friday (June 2)
Red Sox,
We are down to the final week of baseball. We have practice tomorrow at Baker Butler at 5:30 and our first round playoff game on Friday at 6pm (5:15pm show time) at Hollymead lower. I am tracking Anthony as not being able to make tomorrow's practice, if anyone else is unable to attend just shoot me a message. Let's show up a little earlier on Friday to make sure we get a good warm up in before our final matchup against the Braves.
Also, Eli misplaced his glove, it is a black and brown Rawlings (his name is not on it) and is in relatively new condition. If anyone happened to pick it up please let Kiersten or I know.

End of regular season update
First off, congratulations to our Red Sox, they finished the regular season in 2nd place. We allowed the least amount of runs in our division and finished second in runs scored. Best defense, second best offense, not a bad place to be going into the playoffs.
We did not have enough players available to make up/finish any of our remaining rain outs. We have our last practice at Baker Butler next Wednesday @ 6pm. I will send out another update once the official schedule is announced, but it looks like we will be playing the Braves next Friday, June 2nd, at Hollymead Lower @6pm. As the #2 seed, we will be the home team. Enjoy the holiday weekend and see you next week.

Availability for make-up game tomorrow - 5/25 vs Orioles
Is anyone not available to play tomorrow night? I will be out of town, but Joe is able to lead the team to one more victory before the playoffs if we can field enough players. Please let us know as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly.

Post Game Thoughts
First off, I am sorry I lost my temper tonight, it was inappropriate. I just wanted to explain what happened tonight in case there was any confusion. Going into the bottom of the 5th inning, we were up by 7 runs. The umpire said we would play a full six innings (before and twice during the 5th), so the Braves were limited to 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th. I took the opportunity to let some of our younger pitchers get some work in as the worst case scenario was going to be us going into the 6th with a 2-run lead, another at bat, and Zach ready to close the game.
The umpire waited until after the Braves had scored five runs (at our indifference) to inform us that it was too late to start another inning, so the Braves were going to get an "unlimited inning".
Needless to say, our 5th inning defense looks a lot different than our 6th inning defense. While Bringing Zach in with the bases loaded and 1 out was our best option, it was definitely not a situation I would ever choose to put any of our players in.
I don't know what a fair resolution would have been given the circumstances; ultimately, it was my call to "come off the gas," and for the second time this season it led to a miraculous comeback by our opponent and a devastating loss for our team. We have 4 games left in the regular season and then the playoffs, we will be at full-throttle from here on out. See you tomorrow night.

**GAME TONIGHT - 5:30pm SHOW TIME @ Baker Butler**
1 down, 5 to go. I will be reposting the story from last night once Gamechanger puts it together. Anthony got the game ball for his fantastic day at the plate and on the bases. Our defense made some good plays last night, Zach had a nice grab at short, Jake and Noah both made plays at second and Luke and Paul played a bunt perfectly. If it weren't for a miscommunication, some backspin, and healthy dose of sun glare, we would have held them to 1 run. Hopefully tonight we'll keep the Braves out of striking distance through solid defense and pitching.
It will be hot tonight, make sure to bring water and maybe a snack (there is no concession at Baker Butler). We'll keep the music going and do all we can to get back to a winning record.

**GAME TONIGHT - 5:30pm SHOW TIME @ Hollymead Lower**
Red Sox,
Tonight is the first of 3 games on consecutive nights and a total of 6 games over the next nine days. This is by far the most crucial stretch of the regular season, and the great news is that we should have our whole team for every game during the stretch. This will be an exciting 9 days of baseball as we look to finish our season strong and position ourselves as best we can for the playoff tournament.

**PRACTICE TONIGHT - 5:30-7:30pm @ Baker Butler**
Red Sox, please take note of the location of tonight's practice as we haven't been at Baker Butler for a while. If possible, have your players wear some sort of pants with tall socks as we will be working on base running. We have plenty to work on, so I plan to go all the way until 7:30pm if you are planning on dropping off. See you tonight.

Braves Almost Erases 7-Run Deficit in Loss to Red Sox
So I didn't realize that most of you do not get these game recaps. They are put together automatically by Gamechanger, I will start pasting them as new announcements so you can let your players know when they made it into the highlights. Today's game got a little ugly, but we did what we needed to do to get the win. For those of you who had to leave immediately after the game, we talked about Grant's best outing of the year, Urjit's three hits (including a triple), Luke's baserunning, Eli's clutch hit and the gameball going to Jake for his clutch hit and getting us out of a tough spot in the 4th inning. Zach's revenge for a questionable call at the plate was a great way to end a tough game. We still need to work on baserunning: good secondary leads, committing to getting to the next base. We also need to keep focus while on defense and make the easy outs.
So here is the rollup from today's game:
Red Sox built a seven-run lead in the second inning and then held off Braves's charge for a 10-8 victory on Saturday. Braves scored six runs in the failed comeback on a double by Yow, J in the third, a single by Halliday, G in the third, a walk in the third, a single by Jennings, I in the fourth, a walk by Yow, in the fourth, and a stolen base in the fourth.
An early lead helped propel Red Sox to victory. Red Sox scored on a single by Dighe, U, a double by Shue, E, and a walk by McCormack, N in the first inning.
Red Sox captured the lead in the first inning. Dighe, drove in one when he singled in the first inning.
Braves scored three runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Braves came thanks to a single by Jennings, I, a walk by Yow, J, and a stolen base.
Red Sox collected eight hits. Dighe,, Constantino, Z, and Shiflett, G each collected multiple hits for Red Sox. Shiflett,, Constantino,, and Dighe, all had two hits to lead Red Sox.
Braves had six hits in the game. Fischer, A and Yow, each collected multiple hits for Braves. Braves didn't commit a single error in the field. Fischer, had one chances in the field, the most on the team.
