Best Hybrid Bats
Hybrid bats combine an alloy barrel with a composite handle, joined together by a connecting piece at the top of the handle. Hybrids offer the barrel strength and durability of an alloy bat with the lighter feel of a composite handle, with many of the hybrid builds having an end-loaded weight distribution as the alloy barrel holds more of the weight. The Louisville Slugger Select PWR was the highest rated hybrid, offering pure power with its dense alloy barrel. The connection point and handle will dampen vibration more than a one-piece alloy, but not as much as a true composite build. Even with a durable barrel, the connection piece is a vulnerable point and hard contact on the connection point could break the bat.

It depends on individual preference. Alloys offer a stiff, consistent feel of one dense material along the whole bat. Composites will feel lighter than metal and are generally separated into two pieces to create a large, forgiving barrel. Hybrids tend to be end loaded, as the light composite handle allows for more weight to be concentrated in the alloy barrel. The only objective scenario in which alloys/hybrids are superior is in colder weather.
