Cody King sits behind the backstop at a Houston travel ball tournament with an iPhone in one hand and a Pocket Radar Smart Coach in the other, pointed at the mound. His 11U team warms up nearby. One of his pitchers fires the ball down the plate, then mouths the question every kid on the team asks now.

“What is it?”

Cody grins. “55 miles per hour.”

The kid nods, locks in, and goes back to firing fastballs.

He’s not wrong.

There’s a favorite story Harter likes to share.

During his eldest son’s senior season, he and a teammate both started the year throwing around 80 miles per hour. GameChanger logged every pitch, showing the boys just where they stood, especially compared to each other. 

The friendly rivalry and ongoing training paid off. By season’s end, both pitchers were pushing 86 mph.

“That competition helped,” Donald says. “They knew what their velocity was, so they trained harder. It was fun to watch.” 

Donald also uses the radar to teach his pitchers something subtler than raw speed: the gap between their fastball and their off-speed pitches. A kid throwing 80 on his fastball but clocking 77 has room for improvement. The radar delivers real numbers, giving pitchers and coaches something specific to work on.
