GameChanger Bat Lab exists to help baseball and softball players, parents, and coaches make more informed bat-buying decisions through data-backed testing, athlete feedback, and clear recommendations. We believe transparency is important. This page explains how Bat Lab makes money, how our commercial relationships work, and how we protect the integrity of our ratings and recommendations.
How Bat Lab Makes Money
GameChanger Bat Lab is operated by GameChanger, a DICK’S Sporting Goods company.
Bat Lab may include links to purchase bats or related products from DICK’S Sporting Goods. If you click a “Buy the Bat” link or similar call-to-action, you may be directed to a DICK’S Sporting Goods product page. GameChanger and/or DICK’S Sporting Goods may receive revenue, referral value, or other business benefit if you purchase a product through those links.
Bat Lab does not process purchases directly. Product availability, pricing, shipping, returns, and final sale terms are managed by DICK’S Sporting Goods.
Our Ratings Are Not Pay-to-Play
Ratings are determined by thorough testing, not commercial influence. Brands cannot pay to receive a higher Bat Lab rating.
Bat Lab ratings are based on our testing methodology, which combines measured performance data, swing data, and athlete feedback. Commercial relationships, product availability, affiliate value, or brand partnerships do not determine how a bat is rated.
When we recommend a bat, our goal is to help athletes find the right bat for their swing — not to promote a product because a brand paid for placement.
How Bats Are Sourced
Bats tested by GameChanger Bat Lab may be purchased, provided by manufacturers, supplied by retail partners, or otherwise made available for testing.
Regardless of how a bat is sourced, each bat is evaluated using the same Bat Lab testing methodology. Product source does not determine how a bat performs in our ratings.
Where relevant, Bat Lab may disclose additional sourcing context for specific tests, events, or product reviews.
Manufacturer and Brand Relationships
GameChanger and DICK’S Sporting Goods may have commercial relationships with bat manufacturers, including retail partnerships, vendor relationships, sponsorships, marketing collaborations, or product availability agreements.
These relationships do not give manufacturers control over Bat Lab ratings, testing outcomes, or editorial conclusions. Brands may not pay to change testing results, influence scores, or remove unfavorable findings.
Editorial Independence
Bat Lab content is developed to explain our testing, share data-backed insights, and help users make more confident bat decisions.
Our editorial and testing approach is guided by the principle that the right bat depends on the athlete. We aim to provide clear, detailed, and objective information rather than generic “best bat” claims.
When we publish reviews, recommendations, comparisons, or ratings, we do so based on Bat Lab’s methodology and available data.
Updates to Reviews and Ratings
Bat Lab may update reviews, ratings, recommendations, or product pages as new data becomes available, additional bats are tested, products change, or our methodology evolves.
When possible, Bat Lab will indicate when a page was last updated.
