Bat Lab Video
The Rawlings Icon 2026 had the highest overall player opinion score of 4.7/5. Even players who tend to dislike two-piece bats could not help but love this bat. And besides complaints about little tweaks like knob or grip size, the Icon was universally admired. Between performance, aesthetics, and comfort, the players crowned the Icon as their king.
Scoring a 4.7/5, the Icon combines balanced weight with a large barrel to maximize contact. The players loved how easy it was to get the massive barrel through the zone with plenty of speed, allowing for consistent, high quality contact.
Finishing off with a 4.6/5, the players loved how this bat felt in their hands. First of all, the cool mint color is sleek and shines, without being flashy. Secondly, Many said it had the best taper and handle feel of all bats tested. And last of all, the sound has a classic crack of the bat, almost like a wood bat.
With a barrel of this magnitude and a bat this easy to swing, the sweet spot might as well be the size of the entire strike zone. The players seemed to perfectly square up the ball on every swing, rating it a 4.7/5.
Just from the look of the massive barrel on the Icon, most of the players assumed it was end-loaded. But it is actually built with a balanced weight distribution, and the lightweight composite material with the massive barrel distributes weight very evenly throughout the bat, giving the Icon a 4.3/5 on balance.
While the Icon ranked highly in every player category, pop is the standout at 4.8/5. A bat this easy to swing should not be able to generate this much power, but the players were blown away by its staggering power.
The players gave the Icon a 4.3/5 on control. Its lightweight feel allows the hitter to hit with the pitch and cover the whole zone with quality swings.
Trackman commentary. The Trackman data shows the Rawlings Icon’s power on full display. Earning a 4.7/5, it was the second highest overall Trackman score of any bat tested and showed significant marginal boosts to 4/5 categories.
The Rawlings Icon 2026 averaged 97.26 mph in exit velocity, with a best swing of 110.94 mph. Compared to the player baseline, it increased by +2.1 mph, or +2.2%. The smooth swing would hit the ball hard and consistently boosted exit velocity.
The Icon set the record for top distance of any bat tested at 459.2ft, and its average distance came in at an impressive 327.92 ft. The bat increased +9.2 feet above baseline, a +2.9% improvement. The Icon generates electric pop that will have outfielders on their heels.
Sweet spot rate was the only negative mark on the Icon’s scorecard. It averaged 50.7% and finished -1.88% below baseline. The lightweight feel and large barrel offered forgiving contact, but the line drive capabilities of the bat could have lowered the amount of balls hit with a high launch angle. Do not let this decrease tarnish the reputation of this bat, as it really goes to show its versatility as a power and contact bat, instead of solely hitting for launch angle and power.
The Icon produced a 69.8% hard-hit rate and finished +7.13% above baseline. This metric highlights the bats true increase in power, as regardless of launch angle, it was increasing the exit velocity and consistently hitting the ball hard.
Barreled rate averaged 24.0% and finished +4.96% above baseline. This was another standout metric, showing the Icon could produce both great contact and extreme power. While it was not guaranteed to produce a high launch angle, it did guarantee hard contact. And when that solid contact did produce a high launch angle, it did so with a very high exit velocity as well, boosting the chances for a home run swing.
Blast Motion commentary. The Rawlings Icon scored the highest of any bat on overall Blast Motion scores with a 4.6/5. The data shows increases in all three metrics, showing that of all the gold tier bats, the Icon stands out with the best contact capabilities.
The Rawlings Icon 2026 averaged 75.9 mph in bat speed, with a best swing of 88.6 mph. Compared to the player baseline, it finished +1.9 mph, or +2.4%. Players were able to see a significant boost in how fast they could get the barrel through the zone while maintaining firm control.
Peak hand speed averaged 22.5 mph, with a best mark of 28.4 mph. The Icon increased by +0.7 mph, or +3.4% in comparison to the baseline. This was the strongest improvement in the Blast Motion data, showing how much more acceleration players got from their hands when using this bat to generate a faster, more powerful swing.
Time to contact averaged 0.140 seconds, with a best mark of 0.120 seconds. The bat finished -0.002 seconds, or -1.6%, relative to baseline. The players could make quick adjustments with ease, getting the barrel to the ball in any part of the strikezone.
The Icon gets the best of both worlds and is a top tier bat for good reason. The Trackman and Blast Motion data show a bat that has a fast, deadly, and efficient swing that produces electric pop.

Comparisons
The Rawlings Icon stands out as the premier contact bat among even the top tier of bats. While it can not compare to the consistent launch angle shown by the sweet spot rate of the Select PWR (end-loaded), it shows far superior contact capabilities than the end-loaded power bat. The true comparison comes down to the Combat MFG Spec-A1. Both are excellent balanced weight bats with both contact and power capabilities. They each show incredible stats across the board, only dipping in sweet spot, but highlighting excellent power and contact metrics. The Icon has an edge in bat speed and contact, while the Spec-A1 has slightly better power numbers. Both are incredible bats with near identical stats, and the debate can really come down to personal preference over one-piece (Spec-A1) versus two-piece (Icon).
