Parents please read this important message from the a commissioner Corey!
Hello JMS Senators Parents,
I would like to introduce myself to you all, as I have had the pleasure of meeting some of you at the games played at Fort Grebel, and some of you may not have. I am Corey Jordan (Most players know me as Coach Corey), and I asked Coach Matthews to forward this email to you all to try to clear up some of the questions you may have had about the team, the league and the division that your son(s) is currently playing for, as well as some confusion that may have taken place over the course of the past weekend.
The team is a combination of players from the three local Little Leagues that are in both Ward 7 and Ward 8 (Mamie Johnson LL, Southern District LL, and JBAB LL), and these young men have been competing on Sunday afternoons against some of the other Little Leagues in Washington DC. The regular season had been set where the team would consist of players ages 13 to 15 years old in the Junior Division.
We will soon be concluding the regular season and preparing for the team to compete in the District Tournament that will take place from July 10 to July 17. The age requirement for the team in the District Tournament will be players ages 13 and 14 years old. I know Coach Matthews is looking at the team and will be selecting players that fit this age requirement to compete. Should the team win the District Tournament they will compete in the Maryland State Tournament that will begin on July 23rd.
I will be sending Coach Matthews the paperwork information that you will need to have completed for your son(s) to be able to play in the District Tournament in a separate email.
This past Saturday we had the first of four DC Grays RBI Qualifiers for those players ages 13 to 15 years old that live in Washington DC. This RBI team will be competing in the RBI Mid-Atlantic tournament beginning on July 21, and the members of the JMS team were invited to tryout for this team on last Saturday at the Nationals Academy.
The JMS team has been invited to play against a RBI team from Richmond, VA on Saturday, June the 18th, and this game will take place at the Academy. The issue about the team being told that they would be playing on this past Saturday was a simple mix up in communication.
Should you have any others questions please feel free to reach out to me at any time.
