Game Tomorrow - Canceled
Good evening team and fans,
I just received word from the Northeast LL that they do not have enough players to field a team for our game tomorrow. I have removed the game from our schedule and we will NOT be playing at 9AM.
I have added practice to the schedule from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM tomorrow for those who can make it. Everyone can sleep in the morning and we'll let the temps warm-up before practice (and I'll get to see the start of my other daughter's game).
Sorry for the late notice, and we'll see everyone who can make it at practice tomorrow.
FFWLL Majors - Welcome Players & Parents
The snow is melting away and while there's still some freezing weather in the forecast, softball season is so close you can smell it in the air.
For those that don't know me, I am coach Bryan Gillilan and I have been lucky enough to get the opportunity to coach our talented team of Softball Players this season. I come from a family with a love for the games of Baseball and Softball and all the life-lessons young people can take away from playing this great game. I have been coaching or assisting with youth sports in the Fairfax, Fletcher, Westford area for the past 6 years including the last 4 years assisting with FFWLL teams. Most recently I coached our FFWLL Minor League Softball All-Star team in 2021. I am excited to see many of those same names and smiling faces on our Majors roster this season. This year we will also have coaches Nate Muehl and Stephen Von Sitas on our staff. I have worked with both Nate and Steve coaching at the Farm and Minors levels in the past and I couldn't ask for a more dedicated and fun couple of guys to work with this season.
At the Majors level, we're still all about having fun while learning the fundamental skills of the game of softball. The game at the Majors level moves fast and as a result, our practices will move fast also. We will follow a structured practice format where focus and hustle are key in order for us to maintain safety and ensure the players are both learning and having fun. Players will be introduced to more game strategy and we will spend time refining the skills they have learned at the lower levels of Little League play.
While we are waiting for the fields to thaw and become playable, we will start shaking off some of the winter ice with a few indoor practices at the Westford Elementary School starting this week. Indoor practices will be all about working on basic fundamentals and building up those skills and muscle groups necessary to be ready for game-speed practices once we're able to get outside. Our first practice will be held Tuesday, March 22nd from 5:30 - 7:00 PM at Westford Elementary school. We will maintain this practice slot for the next few weeks until we are able to get outside on the fields. Please have your players bring clean, dry shoes to practice with inside along with their glove, helmet, and bat.
