Friday game rained out
Friday, July 31st - The game between the Drillers and Hitters, scheduled for War Memorial Stadium has been rained out.
Schedule Changes 7/30
July 30, 2020, Virginia Beach, VA – Due to the VA Governor’s most recent Executive Orders regarding the Hampton Roads Region of Virginia, and the resulting reactions from the local municipalities that have impacted field availability for the remainder of our season, coupled with many Colleges and Universities announcing requirements that their respective students self-quarantine for between 10 and 14 days prior to returning to campus, impacting player availability beginning this weekend for some, and first of the week for many others, the Tidewater Summer League’s executive committee has decided to forgo the final few days of the regular season and begin the post season tournament this Saturday, August 1, 2020 with the play-off rounds and the League Championship Game scheduled for Sunday, August 2, 2020. Thursday 7/30 & Friday 7/31 schedule remains unchanged.
We have seeded the tournament based on the current standings. The Edenton Steamers locked in first place last week, and as the number one seed will host their play-off game at Historic Hicks Field in Edenton, NC vs the Tidewater Drillers (#4 seed) on Saturday, 8/1; game time is 7:00pm. The number two seed Old Dominion Hitters will be home team in the other playoff game vs the number three seed Greenbrier Knights on Saturday, 8/1, and that game will also be played at Historic Hicks Field in Edenton, NC, game time is 3:00pm.
The Championship game will be played Sunday, 8/2 between the two winners from Saturday’s games. Should the Steamers win their play-off game, they will host the Championship game at Historic Hicks Field in Edenton, NC on Sunday, August 2, 2020, game time will be 7:00pm. Should the Steamers be eliminated in the playoff round, the Championship Game would be played at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton, VA on Sunday, August 2, 2020, with an 8:00pm start time.
We would like to thank all our players, coaches, officials, parents and fans for their patience and understanding this season as we have dealt with many unexpected changes, adjustments and uncertainty in our efforts to make our 2020 season happen. We hope these final adjustments will ensure our league is able to hold its full post season and finish the 2020 season with a great, competitive post season championship tournament and crown a 2020 Tidewater Summer League Champion.
