1. This weekend was a disappointing one for all, as our much anticipated home games vs Ramstein was cancelled due to the weather. Unfortunately we were unable to reach a satisfactory agreement with Ramstein to make up the games so we will head into this weekend’s action with Vilseck to wrap our regular season up. This weekend will be Senior recognition day, and we will have a brief senior recognition between game 1 and game 2. The end of season tournament is almost upon us, I am both excited and a little sad that the season is coming to a close. The team has done a fantastic job of becoming a well rounded baseball team that excels at all phases of the game. I will send out information concerning the end of season tny as soon as I get it.

1. The Warriors took home the sweep this past weekend vs a pesky lancer squad. This week’s school set up is different so hopefully our athletes will do well on all the test they are taking. We host Ramstein this Saturday in a matchup of 1 vs 2 right now, we all know that the games that matter are played 23-25 May, but the plan is to get after it this weekend and let everyone know warrior baseball is for real. I sent out the information about the TNY T-shirts and need to know if you want one so I can submit the order. I set the deadline at 8 May, but I will wait until 10 May but then I need to submit our team order.
2. Upcoming events –
6 – 9 May 1500 – 1730 Practice at the field
10 May 1500 – 1700 Practice (will return to the school after practice)
11 May 0830 – Arrive at the field
1000 – Game 1 vs Ramstein Royals
1230 - Game 2 vs Ramstein Royals
• Senior recognition will be on 17 May 19 – vs Vilseck
3. Eligibility for this week is once again the 3rd quarter grade. Next week is traditionally the most dangerous grade check. It will be the first of the 4th quarter sandwiched in between a pep rally and the beginning of AP testing. Please continue to remind your kids to stay on top of all assignments and get adequate rest. Sickness is the enemy!

Coach Laliberte's Corner - Win with Humility
Humility - A modest view of one's own importance, humble
Lets face it, everyone wants to win - winning is fun - it's the ultimate goal. People are hard wired to want to win - it's how we got this far in evolution. Winning in sports is a lot like winning in life - it requires you to be good at something, feel confident while doing it, have a goal, and achieving that goal (winning). How you act after you win says a lot about your personal character and effects how others perceive you. Do you gloat when you beat another team? It's OK to feel good about getting the win and about yourself and your team - that's important for building confidence. Demeaning comments toward the other team or teasing them about their inability to beat you is disrespectful - it should not, and will not be tolerated.
How, exactly, do you win with humility? Give the other team the respect they deserve - congratulate outstanding performances in defeat - hold back the urge to be vindictive or cruel in any way, even if during the game the other team or individuals were not respectful toward you. Be the bigger man.
After all, during the season it matters only for seeding for the tournament, during pool play it matters only for seeding for the next round, during the final rounds of the tournament it's only a game, not the end of the world. Win or lose - lessons will be learned, life will go on. When you look back at your experiences playing High School (or beyond) sports, I want you to have pride in how you behaved.
To close - "Vincit que se vincit" which is Latin for, "He conquers twice who conquers himself when he is victorious." Meaning a person should control the urge to be arrogant, smug, cruel, or vindictive when they win. Not only have you won the game, but you've won the respect of the other players/coaches/umpires/fans by showing humility in victory.

1. A tough pair of baseball games this weekend in Stuttgart as the warriors earned the split on the backs of two great pitching performances by Austin Deckinga, and Sam Houston. The conditions in Stuttgart were not ideal but the team performed well and were inches away from earning the sweep. This week we host Lakenheath in another pair of Friday games. With all the missed school time it is important that our athletes make sure to stay on top of their work. Grade checks this past week have shown several athletes with 1 F and a few d’s so we need to make sure they stay on top of it.
2. Upcoming events –
29 Apr – 2 May 1500 – 1730 Practice at the field
3 May 1200 – Released after Lunch (ALL ATHLETES MUST GO TO 1ST & 2nd PERIOD!!!!!!)
1400 – Game 1 vs Lakenheath Lancers
1630 - Game 2 vs Lakenheath Lancers
• 1ST HOME GAMES hope to see you all there.
